" That gives us a total of 30 teams. We have streamlined the advancing team registration this year on the Frontier Trails BEST web site. The teams can select on-line their own time slots for team photos, display judging, presentation judging, and robot compliance check-in. They will also be given the opportunity to sign-up, at the registration desk when they arrive, for a 1 hour practice time on Friday between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm on either of the 2 game fields at the Stubblefield Center, where the competition will be held on Saturday. In addition, there will be a mixer on Thursday evening at the campus plus a dinner and guest speaker on Friday evening at the Convention Center. I think this year’s regional should be a step-up from last year. I hope to see many of you there. If you are interested in helping, on our Frontier Trails BEST web site at www.uafortsmith.edu/FTBEST we have two forms you may use to sign-up as a volunteer or a judge. I have just updated the information today on our web site, so it should be available this week after it goes through final approval by the webmaster. Good luck with your local competitions!" --- John Martini, Assistant Professor, Electronics Technology, U of A, Fortsmith.
Oct. 15th - Coaches Notes 5 : From the NWA-BEST committee
1. Every team must submit a notebook for competition in order to field a
robot in the games.
2. The Demographics form, that is required as the first page of the
notebook, can be downloaded from the web page. Failure to have this in the
book when it is judged will cost the team points. Teams failing to have
this in their notebook will be required to supply the information at Game
Day in order to field a robot.
3. The team's web address should be on the cover or inside cover of their
notebook.
4. The notebook cover should give the name of the school, team name, and
team number.
5. A team Tee-shirt should be sent in early with the notebooks, if the
team wishes to compete in this activity.
6. Schools should have their table displays set up on Game Day by 9:00 A.M
unless they have traveled from very long distances.
There will be a judges' check-off sheet for officials to have as robots are
checked in. This should be given to the Judging Co-ordinator Nebil as soon as all schools are
signed in.
Please use the following Display Ideas document for guidance.
